Fuller Center for Housing Offers a New Hand Up  Build #33 Begins June 13

Indianapolis, Indiana: Fuller Center for Housinging of Central Indiana announced today that starting June 13 it will begin construction of a new home on Goodlet Avenue in Speedway for Ms. Shanika Mosley and her children. This is Fuller Center's 33rd build since 2009 and second, since the pandemic paused the non-profits otherwise relentless effort to help families in need of a hand up to achieve responsible home ownership.

"We enlist volunteers and corporate partners to help us build a new home for one of our families in about three weeks," Says Merill Matlock, President of Fuller Center's Board.  "The corporate partner for this particular build is Rolls Royce. It's really a big commitment from them because they'll have workers there every day, and that will help us get the job done on time."

This news comes in the wake of many recent initiatives and accomplishments of the organization during the peak of the pandemic, including:

  • The significant provision for families the pandemic put out of work

  • The Restructuring of its all-volunteer board to improve its ability to respond to the need for adequate housing here in Central

  • The completion of a logic model to improve donor relations and to qualify for corporate grants.

According to Matlock, "the United Nations estimates that more than one billion people around the world live in substandard housing. That number includes thousands right here in Central Indiana. We're working to change that in an unrelenting quest to provide adequate housing for families in need of  a hand up."
